Fall Colour with Vines!

One of the most colourful vines for fall is the Boston Ivy. This is the plant after which the Ivy League schools get their name. The Boston Ivy, or Parthenocissus, is a great climbing vine that can climb many stories up the sides of building. They are self clinging so they do not require staking or a trellis. Plant one against the side of your house and within a few year you will be enjoying the stunning fall colour as the leaves turn a brilliant red. There are several varieties the most common being the Parthenocissus tricuspidata with smaller leaves or the larger leaved Parthenocissus tricuspidata ‘Veitchii’. Both provide a beutiful show of colour in the fall.
